Aye ye lok dekh kya bol rahaa hai...

Flintoff and Hoggard aparently felt hurt about the abuses, so generously hurled at them during the Mumbai test. According to Farokh Engineer the Mumbai crowds showed unsporting behaviour. What a load of bull!!!

I was there on Sunday and even with a really screwed up throat, I joined in the Bh******...Ma******* chants. Being inappropriate is almost a way of life for Mumbaikar, you get cursed at by your boss, your peon, your wife, your kids, your kaamwali bai and the conductor who doesn't have change. And to top that off the North stand was full of college going junta, chanting obscenities is almost second nature for them. In any case aren't these the same bunch of cricketeers that consider sledging a "psychological tactic".
Besides that no one will buy the "unsporting" remark, the entire crowd (including the North stand) applauded every boundary hit, every catch taken and when they had had too much (read when Sachin got out) they just left. Crowds at Eden gardens have hurled projectiles (defaulted a match to Sri Lanka if you remember), ones in Karachi have suspended at least one match (in my recollection) because of repeated pitch invasions.

Mumbaikars love their cricket, even if the good stuff is coming from the opposition. They prefer it coming from their own (which is why they chant stuff like Monty Bho*****), but eveyone knows, in this city you got to make do with what you got...
